The Jaguar XF - Is THE Female Choice In Executive Motoring

29th August 2008 10:24 pm Jaguar

Britain’s best motoring website for women - evecars.com has named the Jaguar XF ‘Best Executive Car’ in its 2008 honours list.

The panel of women responsible for putting the XF and its competitors through their paces were, evecars.com editor Alex Jenner-Fust, Eve magazine’s Rachael Ashley and Jessica Gibson, Autocar’s Vicky Parrott and Eve reader Sarah Thane. Each appraised the cars using five key criteria: Comfort (driving position, space in the rear), Practicality (getting in and out, positioning a child seat), Space (boot volume and ease of loading) Parking and of course the Drive.

Commenting on the award, Alex Jenner-Fust, editor of evecars.com said: “For a car that will take you seamlessly from school gates to boardroom, look no further. The Jaguar XF combines cutting-edge technology with a classic British feel. Driving it is a real pleasure, whether you’re on the school run or cruising to the south of France. The stereo system is easy to use, while the seats are so comfortable you won’t want to get out.”

This is the second major award the XF has received this week, having earlier been named the Auto Express ‘Car of the Year’ 2008. This latest accolade brings the XF’s tally of awards to 17 since its global debut in Frankfurt last year. Other awards include the prestigious ‘Car of the Year’ title from evecars.com’s sister publication What Car?.

Geoff Cousins, UK Managing Director of Jaguar Cars, said: “The female market is incredibly important to Jaguar and it is great to see that XF really appeals to women with its combination of style and practicality.”

Not only is the XF winning over motoring editors, it continues to capture the imagination of customers. Orders for this latest model currently total 7,000 in the UK and 22,000 internationally. And it is not only XF that continues to do well in its home market, sales for the Jaguar range in July were up 29.2% versus the same month last year, with X-TYPE performing well thanks to the introduction of the 2.2 litre diesel automatic.

Priced from £33,900 for the 2.7-litre diesel, the XF comes as standard with a generous specification featuring a host of innovative, industry-leading equipment. Highlights include the all-new JaguarDrive Selector and JaguarSense - a smart technical solution introducing touch or proximity-sensing control for overhead console lights and glovebox.

Jaguar XF Wins ‘Car Of The Year’

22nd August 2008 4:30 pm Jaguar

The Jaguar XF has yet again been voted ‘Car of the Year’ - its fourth top title win since being launched in March. This time the premier award comes courtesy of Auto Express in their New Car Honours 2008. Jaguar’s multi-award winning sports saloon claimed its crown following victory in the ‘Best Executive Car’ category ahead of the BMW 5-Series, the Mercedes CLS and E-Class, the Audi A6 and the Lexus GS.

Dan Strong, Editor of Auto Express magazine, said: “Jaguar’s XF is a machine that has proved the doubters wrong. It’s a car that impresses on every level, from design to drivability, practicality to price.

“But that’s not the only reason why our judges chose this car. Our winner has raised the standards in a class where excellence is considered the norm. It’s a home-grown package, designed and developed in the UK and built by a highly-skilled workforce.”

Geoff Cousins, UK Managing Director of Jaguar Cars said: “I am absolutely thrilled Auto Express - the UK’s biggest selling weekly motoring magazine - has awarded the XF with its top accolade. This has been a fantastic year for Jaguar with the XF leading the success of our revitalisation plan. In July, total Jaguar sales were up 29.2% versus the same month last year and we now have over 7,000 orders for XF in the UK and more than 22,000 worldwide - we couldn’t be more pleased with the reaction it has received.”

What Car? magazine, What Diesel magazine and The Sun Motoring also named the XF ‘Car of the Year’ while Top Gear magazine hailed it their ‘Limo of the Year’. Other notable awards include ‘Interior of the Year’ from CAR magazine and the ‘Design Award’ from Autocar magazine.

Most recently, the optional top-of-the-range 440 watt Bowers & Wilkins in-car audio system in the Jaguar XF was voted Best Buy under £100,000 by The What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision Ultimate Guide to High End Entertainment.

Priced from £33,900 for the 2.7-litre diesel, the XF comes as standard with a generous specification featuring a host of innovative, industry-leading equipment. Highlights include the all-new JaguarDrive Selector™ and JaguarSense™ - a smart technical solution introducing touch or proximity-sensing control for overhead console lights and glovebox.

These highlights have all contributed to the class-leading residual values of the XF. Both CAP and EutotaxGlass’s have rated the diesel derivative above its BMW, Mercedes, Lexus and Audi competitors with an RV after 36 months / 36,000 miles of 50% of the original value*.

Jaguar XF is “Best Buy” For In-Car Audio

13th August 2008 2:23 pm Jaguar

The Bowers & Wilkins in-car audio system in the Jaguar XF has been voted Best Buy under £100,000 by The What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision Ultimate Guide to High End Entertainment.

The XF under review featured the Bowers & Wilkins 440W Surround Sound System with a remote amplifier, Dolby® Pro-Logic® II 7.1 Surround Sound and 14 speakers.

Bowers & Wilkins technology, exclusively used in Jaguar cars, is acclaimed by audiophiles, artists and recording engineers alike. Kevlar cones in the large speakers improve linearity of response and reduce distortion, while aluminium domes on the tweeters improve sound reproduction at high frequencies by reducing weight of the moving part.

Up against competition from Lexus, Audi and Volkswagen, What Hi-Fi? judges considered the XF’s Bowers & Wilkins in-car system on its sound-per-pound performance. They used a wide range of music to evaluate its performance and drove over a variety of roads at different speeds to evaluate its abilities under real-world conditions.

Editor of What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision Ultimate Guides, Andy Kerr said: “I’ve tested a great many in-car systems for both What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision and What Car? and this Bowers & Wilkins has huge appeal. Its sound quality is terrific, and just as importantly, it’s sensibly priced, meaning more drivers will choose to specify it.”

CJ O’Donnell, Jaguar’s Marketing Director said: “Bowers & Wilkins is Britain’s leading exporter of premium loudspeakers making it an ideal brand partner for Jaguar. To have reached such levels of sound quality in the XF is a marvellous achievement considering this is the first time Bowers & Wilkins has collaborated with a car manufacturer. I am delighted this has been recognised by such a well-respected audio publication.”

Andy Napthine, Global Marketing Manager of Bowers & Wilkins Group Ltd said: “Receiving recognition from the UK’s top selling audio publication highlights the efforts that were put into the Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system in the XF. The brief was clear; to design the best audio experience possible in a contemporary luxury car. This accolade recognises the dedication and attention to detail put into the system and we are sure that XF customers who choose the system will agree.”

Product Lifecycle Management at Jaguar Land Rover

5th August 2008 11:38 am Jaguar

INCAT, a global leader in Enterprise IT Services and Engineering Services Outsourcing (ESO) and a leading international provider of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, has been awarded a managed services contract with Jaguar Land Rover until 2013. Jaguar Land Rover has appointed INCAT as the preferred services partner on two key roles in the Ford-Tata IT
migration process.

INCAT’s first responsibility is to provide expertise in transitioning over 1,000 IT applications from Ford into the new Jaguar Land Rover landscape.

This complex and challenging programme role, known as Application Transition Vendor (ATV), will involve a team of up to 100 INCAT staff, comprising project managers, functional analysts and technical experts, and will be completed in stages over a period of 18 months.

It will involve working closely with Jaguar Land Rover IT staff, Ford’s transition team and Jaguar Land Rover’s infrastructure partners and providers. The INCAT ATV team will be co-located with the Jaguar Land Rover transition team on the Land Rover Solihull site.

The second role, known as Application Management Services (AMS), is to provide ongoing support for the transitioned applications for the next five years. This will involve a team of approximately 250 INCAT staff located both onshore in the Coventry area and offshore at INCAT’s Delivery Centre in Pune, India, and will leverage support from its Group company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The task for the AMS team is to gain expertise of the applications from the current support providers at Ford, and to then manage the ongoing provision of support to equivalent service levels.

Both activities further reinforce INCAT’s expansion of facilities and resources in the West Midlands.

“This is a great outcome for both INCAT and Jaguar Land Rover,” comments Alan Weeks, Jaguar Land Rover IT Transition Manager. “INCAT offers the most robust and complete set of service provisions to meet our needs with the least risk. Recognising that INCAT is also owned by Tata, we have been particularly sensitive to the need to treat them as we would any other vendor. No advantageous insight has been available to the INCAT team, who worked with us in a very professional manner throughout the research
phase.”

INCAT, a long-term services partner to Jaguar Land Rover, already provides specialist PLM and engineering related services, with around 70 PLM consultants and engineers supporting Jaguar Land Rover projects at the Gaydon and Whitley sites.

Richard Welford, INCAT’s Vice President of Tata Motors Business Europe, adds: “The INCAT team is delighted to have the opportunity to build upon our established, long-term relationship with Jaguar Land Rover.”

Warren Harris, INCAT CEO, concludes: “This engagement with Jaguar Land Rover is a significant expansion of a long-standing and valued relationship between our organisations. The expertise that INCAT brings to this engagement is two-fold. First, there is our dominant position in product development IT services. Secondly — and most importantly — is our intimate knowledge of Jaguar Land Rover including its market, its products and its business objectives.”
