New Renault Kangoo Van range to launch with standard 3 year/100,000 mile warranty

7th November 2008 10:00 am Peugeot

3 year/100,000 mile warranty standard across the range, leaving key rivals such as Peugeot Bipper and Partner, and Vauxhall Combo out in the cold.

New, improved warranty terms mirror Trafic and Master ranges, reflecting Renault’s continued commitment to quality and gains made with recent car models, including Clio, Modus and New Laguna
Renault’s New Kangoo Van range has added a further key selling point to its already extensive weaponry as it prepares to do battle in the hotly contested compact van sector, with confirmation of a 3 year/100,000 mile warranty (first two years unlimited mileage) across the entire range.

Like many of its Renault car stablemates launched since the company embarked on its three-year growth plan, Renault Commitment 2009, the New Kangoo Van range benefits from the significant quality gains the company has made in recent years. Mirroring the same warranty terms as those already available on the Trafic and Master ranges, the new, improved warranty terms reflect the confidence the company has in the new product as well as ensuring greater peace of mind for businesses in today’s increasingly tough economic climate.

Compared to several of its key rivals, such as Peugeot’s new Bipper and Partner, not to mention the high-selling Vauxhall Combo, both New Kangoo Van models leave them firmly in the shade with a warranty offering an additional 40,000 miles coverage as standard without the need to pay more for an extended warranty. Renault’s new compact van range also features 3 years free Renault Assistance.

The New Kangoo Van range is on sale now, priced from £8,690 for the Kangoo Compact SL17 P90 and £9,390 for the Kangoo Van ML19 P90, excluding VAT and OTR charges.

A range of offers are available at launch, including an HP offer of four years 0% with £99 deposit, plus free ply lining. More information on New Kangoo Van is available at its microsite, www.newkangoovan.co.uk.

Improve your fuel economy with Peugeot

5th November 2008 3:00 pm Peugeot

With wallet-busting fuel prices, reducing fuel consumption has never been so important.  So isn’t it time you took a closer look at Peugeot?

Three 308s – and a 107 – were entered into the annual MPG Marathon…. and the results show an incredible 32% improvement over published combined mpg* figures.

The ALD Automotive TOTAL Excellium MPG Marathon 2008 took place in October. Travelling in ‘real-world’ conditions – from Bristol to Macclesfield and back again, 39 competitors each drove with economy in mind.

Over a total distance of 411.57 miles, the Peugeot 308 S HDi 90 – driven by Michelin employee John Stack – used just 4.96 gallons of diesel. This meant a fantastic 83.04mpg – 32% more than the published figures of 62.7mpg combined.

Meanwhile the 308 SE HDI 110, driven by motoring journalist Chris Russon, achieved 73mpg. Again, this was an improvement of 32% on the published figures of 55.3mpg combined.

Peugeot currently offers at least 33 models (from the 107, 206, 207 and 308 ranges) with CO2 emissions of less than 120g/km.

So why not take a look at Peugeot’s Blue Lion standard which is awarded to cars with emissions of 130g/km or less.

Results:

Model CO2 Combined mpg mpg Achieved Improvement
Peugeot 107 109 61.4 77.47 26.18%
Peugeot 308 S HDi 90 120
62.7 80.58 28.51%
Peugeot 308 S HDi 90 120 62.7 83.04 32.45%
Peugeot 308 SE HDi 110 134 55.3 73.00 32.01%

The 308 CC – for every lifestyle

22nd October 2008 11:00 am Peugeot

It’s sleek. It’s stylish. And amongst its innovative technology is the Heat Scarf that keeps you warm even when the roof is down. So isn’t it time you took a closer look at Peugeot’s all-new 308 CC.

Set for launch in April 2009, the range is the newest addition to Peugeot’s award-winning line-up of coupé cabriolet cars, following on from 206 CC and the recently launched 207 CC.

And no matter what your lifestyle, the stylish lines and premium quality interior promise a life less ordinary.
Available in three trim levels – S, Sport and GT – the 308 CC sets a new benchmark and enhances the superb 308 Hatchback and SW range.

And you won’t just look great in the 308 CC – you’ll also have cutting edge technology at your fingertips.

The front seats can be fitted with an innovative Airwave system, which effectively acts as an air-stream. Warm air is pumped around the driver and front passenger’s head and neck. And this new technology means you can enjoy life with the roof down… no matter what the weather!

The 308 CC range also has a choice of standard or optional in-car entertainment and telematics, including Peugeot Connect Nav, a new sat-nav system featuring audio functions with a three-tuner MP3 compatible Radio / CD player, a Bluetooth® hands-free mobile telephone, satellite navigation with European cartography, traffic information and RCA connectors in the glove box.

Safety is always a priority and as such ESP – electronic stability programme – is standard on all models. The 308 CC is also the world’s first coupé cabriolet to have a head air bag for the front passengers.

And it wouldn’t be a coupe cabriolet without expert ride handling and a wide engine choice. As such, the 308 CC is powered by a choice of Euro V HDi diesel and petrol turbocharged engines.

Take your pick from a wide choice of colours, including two fabulous new colours exclusive to the 308 CC – the all-new Pearl White or Mocha.

Pierre-Louis Colin, Managing Director of Peugeot UK says: ‘We are the brand who introduced the CC for the general public with the 206 CC some time ago. This is the fourth version of the CC in the modern range. It’s absolutely gorgeous and beautiful and I’m sure it will be a tremendous success in the UK market.’

The futuristic RD was voted winner of the Peugeot Design Competition

22nd October 2008 10:00 am Peugeot

With its smooth curves, oversized wheels and glass bubble roof, welcome to the car of the future!

The innovative vehicle is the winner of Peugeot’s fifth Design Competition. Named RD, it was designed by 25-year-old Carlos Arturo Torres Tovar from Columbia.

The brief was to design a Peugeot for the megacities of the future. And after looking at more than 2,500 entries – from 100 countries – the judges decided on the RD.

A one-seat electrically powered concept with a panoramic view, the RD also has head-up display and voice-activated controls.

And according to Peugeot, it won thanks to its ‘accessible, solid and extremely simple’ design.

The first prize of 10,000 Euros – around £8,000 – and a trophy were presented to Carlos at a ceremony during the Paris Motor Show

Second place went to Turkish designer Emre Yazici with his design called Ego. And third place went to 22-year-old Lou Ke from China for OXO.

The RD will be produced as a full-scale model for the Shanghai Motor Show in April 2009.

Peugeot Bipper is a winner!

30th September 2008 11:27 am Peugeot

Peugeots Bipper is named International Van of the Year 2009

Peugeot's Bipper is named International Van of the Year 2009

Our nippy city van – famed for being big on the inside, small on the outside – has already proved a huge hit with our customers.

And now the Bipper has impressed the experts after being awarded the prestigious ‘International Van of the Year 2009’ award.

The Bipper was given the title in September at the 62nd International Commercial Vehicles Show in Hanover.

It’s the second year in a row Peugeot has been a winner. In 2008, our Expert van was awarded the sought-after title.

April Harris, Peugeot’s LCV product manager, says: ‘We are delighted to have won this prestigious award for the second year running.’

Peugeot previously won the award with the Boxer in 1995 and Partner in 1997.

The winner of the annual award, launched in 1992, is decided by a select jury of leading journalists representing 20 European countries.

And they found the originality of the Bipper, aimed at the entry level of the European small van market, was a winner.

The LCVs compact size, optimised load volume (up to 2.8 m3), payload (up to 610 kg), practicality and superb handling were also recognised.

The low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions (62.7 mpg and 119g/km in the combined cycle with the 1.4 litre HDi engine) also helped it win the title.

Peugeot’s innovative new electric hybrid concept car is ready to be unveiled… with emissions of just 109g/km.

23rd September 2008 11:04 am Peugeot

The Prologue, a 200 bhp car, will be revealed at the Paris Motor Show in October.

And as further proof of Peugeot’s commitment to reducing emissions, it has significantly reduced CO2 emissions: 109g/km in the combined cycle… and zero in electric only mode.

The Prologue is still a closely secret  – with even it’s full name under wraps. But we can reveal it signals a new generation of vehicle, with innovative architecture, style and high-tech equipment.

Peugeot will also be unveiling another concept car, the RC, at the Paris Motor Show.

Peugeot Sport has unveiled a new hybrid 908 HDi FAP powerplant

17th September 2008 11:10 am Peugeot

The car, presented at the final Le Mans Series race at Silverstone in September and called 908 HY, features a kinetic energy recovery system.

This ‘HY’ technology sees some of the kinetic energy produced under braking either recovered or stored.  And this means enhanced performance – with no increase in the amount of energy consumed – due to a combination of the stored mechanical energy and the energy produced by the internal combustion engine.

It also reduces fuel consumption for the same level of performance, again thanks to the stored mechanical energy.

Peugeot Sport Director Michel Barge says: ‘This hybrid 908 HDi FAP is in perfect keeping with the overall mission of our endurance racing programme which covers not only the challenge of competing, but also the fact that as a car manufacturer we can use motor sport as a research and development tool for the Peugeot brand as a whole.’

The 908 HY can be powered by electric mode, internal combustion engine or a combination of the two.

Unveiled with a new silver-grey livery, it is a taster of what Peugeot’s next endurance racing car could look like. Yet whether or not it makes it onto the racetrack depends on new regulations, to be published by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, that will govern LMP 1 cars from 2009.

Currently, in a non-hybrid car when the vehicle brakes, the energy from braking is lost.
The HY system has three elements which allows it to recover and use some of this energy:

A 60 kW gear-driven electric motor-generator which takes the place of the conventional starter motor
Batteries which allow recovered energy to be stored in 600 lithium-ion cells, divided into ten battery packs
An electronic power converter which controls the flow of energy between the batteries and the motor-generator

The technology could also be seen in other Peugeot vehicles.
Michel Barge adds: ‘After innovating through the use of our HDi FAP technology in competition, running a hybrid car in endurance racing would give Peugeot a chance to gain extremely valuable experience that would benefit the development of production cars.’

Peugeot has shown its support for a new Code of Practice for the motor trade – by signing up its entire UK dealer network

12th September 2008 11:18 am Peugeot

The Motor Industry Code of Practice for Service and Repair, launched in August, is aimed at guaranteeing standards of service and protection for customers.

The new code - administered by a stand-alone body called Motor Codes - commits subscribing garages to honest and fair services. It also calls for open and transparent pricing, completing work as agreed, invoices that match quoted prices, and a straightforward, swift complaint procedure.

Andy Bye, Peugeot’s Director of Quality & Customer Relations says: ‘We welcome the introduction of this initiative, and are delighted that all Peugeot dealers in our UK network are already signed up to provide our customers with a Code of Practice that will further enhance customer satisfaction.’

The self-regulatory Code of Practice, which covers dealerships of all size, also provides customers with flexibility and choice regarding dates and times for service booking and completion. It also guarantees against work done.

Andy Bye adds: ‘All customers will benefit from this initiative because they have access to dependable, honest and fair services, transparent pricing, completion of work as agreed, invoices that match quoted prices, served by competent and conscientious staff.’

Garages which achieve a high enough standard will be entitled to display an Office of Fair Trading approved logo.

Peugeot’s new hybrid concept car

2nd September 2008 1:48 pm Peugeot

According to www.peugeot.co.uk, Peugeot’s new hybrid concept car will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October! The name of the car is kept as a secret.

Which means you only have a few weeks until they announce the full details of their top secret concept car.

In the meantime, here are a few facts about the RC… (that’s all they’re giving away!) The ‘RC…’ is an accessible and versatile car, with four doors, four seats and four wheels driven by a highly innovative hybrid architecture.

It is a ‘GT’ coupe – a combination of many future ideas and brings together numerous stylistic, engineering and technological ideas all in a single vehicle.

Its aim is a very high level of efficiency both in terms of performance (with its potential maximum power output of 313 bhp) and minimal impact on the environment (CO2 emissions of 109 g/km in the combined cycle or ZERO in electric mode).

Intrigued? The Paris Motor Show will take place between 4th-19th October. Stay tuned and they’ll let you know more very soon.
